Grand Street Parade
PARADE RULES & GUIDELINES
All floats and entries must relate to the festival theme in some way.
All vehicles and floats must be in good repair, clean and in safe, operational condition.
No fuel cans are allowed on floats . Please fuel up before the parade marshalling begins.
All vehicles and floats must carry at least one fire extinguisher that is charged and accessible.
All entries must continue to the parade finish location, unless in the event of an emergency.
Please maintain a distance of 30-50 feet from the entry in front of you. If there is more than 30 feet between you and the float ahead, stopping is not permitted.
Walking groups are allowed to hand out items to the crowds along the street, however no spectators are allowed to go into the street to get items from entries. Items should not be easy to hold, and not able to escape/interrupt the parade route. (no bouncy balls etc.) Also, groups handing out items must not slow down or delay the flow of the parade.
Nothing is to be thrown from floats or vehicles, this includes the use of water cannons and sprayers into the crowd.
Vehicles and floats will line up along the connector road between Belcher St. and Commercial Street starting at 7:30am on Parade Day. Walkers, and those walking along with a float, are to meet at the Kentville Research Station and will join up with their float from there.
Please see the parade entry application form for more information and guidelines.
