President - Cathy Briggs

Cathy Briggs

Cathy brings her talents for managing and organizing to the Festival from a background in retail, as owner of Absolutely Fabulous Bed, Bath & Home in New Minas, and from her daily life as a mother and wife.
An active member of the community, Cathy is also involved in the Northeast Kings Education Centre Home and School and sits on the board of the Kings Economic Development Agency. She is also a member of the Kentville Rotary Club. She lives in Centreville with daughters Jessica and Elizabeth and husband David.
Cathy has served on the Apple Blossom Festival Board for four years, beginning her Apple Blossom career with the Directorship of Concerts. Creating the magic that is the Apple Blossom Festival is both her primary motivation and goal.


Past President - Sally Swanburg Wallace

Sally Swanburg Wallace

After graduating from Acadia University, Sally moved to Toronto and practiced financial services in her own successful practice with seven other individuals.
Sally returned to Wolfville with husband Bill Wallace to become more involved in the family business. She now lives and practices as a financial planner in Wolfville and has two girls Sasha and Keeley.
Having successfully completed the CFP course in 2001, Sally is now enrolled in the Trust and Estate Practitioner course to add this specialty to her credentials.
A member of the Board in the Finance portfolio since 2001, Sally, the first female President of the Apple Blossom Festival, will serve in this capacity for a two year term.


Secretary - Frances (Frankie) Anderson

Frances (Frankie) Anderson

Frances (Frankie) Anderson has been involved in the organization of the Apple Blossom Festival for a number of years as the Office Assistant, Office Manager and for the past eight years as the Board Secretary. She resides in Kentville with her husband, George. They have one daughter, Sarah who now lives and works in Ottawa.


Treasurer - Pam Young

Pam Young

Pam is a long time resident of Kentville. She was employed by the Kings Arms Pub before working as an independent bookkeeper for several businesses throughout the Valley. She has been treasurer of the Festival for the past three years, and is looking forward to this year's events.


Cultural - Mark Pound

Mark Pound

Mark is a graduate of Acadia University and is currently continuing his education in the Bachelor of Education program in elementary studies. Outside of the classroom, Mark is involved with the Students' Representative Council in the role of Off-Campus Representative.
Active in his community, Mark is a volunteer firefighter with the Wolfville Fire Department, a team leader for the Kings County Emergency Response Team and Canadian Red Cross. He is also the Superintendent for St. John Ambulance, Waterville Brigade #497, and a volunteer with citizens on Patrol and Valley Search & Rescue believes is going to be the best festival yet.


Director at Large for NSFGA - David Cudmore

David Cudmore

David Cudmore joined the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival in 2007 representing the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association. As President & CEO of Scotian Gold Cooperative Limited, he brings industry experience from the growing, packing and marketing prospectives. David is a BBA graduate of Acadia University and holds a CMA designation. He has worked at Scotian Gold for twenty-four years, since 1983. David lives in New Minas with his wife Mary and has three daughters, two dogs and two cats. David has recently purchased an orchard in Lakeville.


Grand Street Parade - Wilf Andrews

Wilf Andrews

A Senior Corporal with the Kentville Police Service, Wilf has served as a Director of the Police Association of Nova Scotia for several years and is a member of the Canadian Police Association.
Wilf has had direct involvement with the Apple Blossom Festival for the past 25 years through his work with the Kentville Police Service as the person responsible for coordinating traffic, and crowd control for events such as the Grand Street Parade, as well as concerts in the park and the fireworks display.


Children's Parade - Greg White

Greg White

Greg White has been involved in the organization of the Children's Parade of the Apple Blossom Festival for the past three years. Born and raised in Kentville, the Apple Blossom Festival is not a new venture for Greg. He has been performing as Juggles the Clown throughout the Festival weekend for the past fifteen years, taking part in the Children's Parade and the Grand Street Parade. Clowning, refereeing hockey, Masonic Lodge, Rotary and church involvement are just a part of the many volunteer efforts in Greg's life. As a profession, Greg is a funeral director with his family's business, White Family Funeral Home. He resides in Kentville with his wife, daughter and son.


Pageant - Donna Higgins

Donna Higgins

Donna has lived in the Annapolis Valley all her life. She graduated from Acadia University, and began a teaching career at the Nova Scotia Community College - Kingstec Campus where she taught Hospitality Management courses for over 30 years.
After retiring from teaching, she now helps with her husband's survey business. Norval and Donna are the proud parents of three grown children: Rebecca, Ceara and Tristan. Both girls were Apple Blossom Princesses.
She has been involved with the Board of Directors since 2001 as Eastern Valley Representative and has assisted with Protocol. In her role of Pageant Director, she enjoys working closely with the Princesses throughout the year.


Central Representative - Pamela D. Sansom

Pamela D. Sansom

Pam is now in her fourth year as our Central Representative, and had been previously involved with the Festival as Kentville's community representative. She brings a lot of experience to this position from her work and her personal life. Pam and her husband, Bill, are residents of Kentville.


Transportation - Les Kakonyi

Les Kakonyi

Les is the current Community Policing Coordinator/Media Relations Officer with Kings District RCMP. He is a 27 year veteran of the RCMP and serves on various boards and committees in Kings County including M.A.D.D., Crime Stoppers, victory over Violence Emergency Teen Shelter, Kings Citizens Patrol, RCMP Stetsons and Spurs, Kings Crime Prevention Association as well as other crime prevention organizations. Les is also currently serving as the secretary for the Crime Prevention Association of Nova Scotia.
Originally from Kitchener, Ontario, Les now considers Nova Scotia home and is pleased to be on the board as the Transportation Director.


Eastern Representative - Maggie Lindsay Sangster

Maggie Lindsay Sangster

Maggie is excited to be joining the Festival Board as Eastern Representative She is a life long resident of the Town of Windsor and has been involved with the festival for a number of years as Windsor Community Representative. Princess Teas and float design are her favorite parts of getting ready for the festival. Maggie has over 10 years experience in Promotion and Event Coordinating. She and her husband Paul have three children, Anthony, Mark and Lindsay and are actively involved in the community.


Western Representative - Darlene Green

Darlene Green

Darlene is thrilled to be joining the Festival Board as Western Representative. She has been a resident of the Village of Kingston for 5 years, after moving from Edmonton, Alberta. Darlene sat as Chair of the Apple Blossom Committee for the Village of Greenwood in 2007. Through her experience working with Princess Greenwood, Darlene was motivated to become involved with the Apple Blossom Festival in 2008. Darlene has many years of volunteer experience in various capacities and organizations. She has two grown children, a son and daughter, who also live in the Kingston area.

Shelley Dawson

As a new resident of Nova Scotia, Shelley is happy to be part of this year's Apple Blossom Festival. In the past, she has been employed as a Cruise Ship Coordinator and an Events Coordinator in Charlottetown PEI. Prior to her move, Shelley enjoyed volunteering at the local elementary school, the Food Bank and on other community projects. Currently, she is a casual substitute for the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board. Shelley lives in Kentville with her husband Darren and 3 children: Hannah, Tyler and Ryan.

Judith Allison

Judy resides in Windsor with her husband, Jim. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
The festival is not new to Judy. She previously chaired the Princess Windsor Pageant Committee and then held the positions of Eastern Representative, Protocol and Pageant Assistant on the board of the Apple Blossom Festival. After an absence from the board she again served on the Princess Windsor Committee. She recently retired as secretary in the school system of the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board. Judy has always been a proud supporter of the festival and looks forward to all activities as each year brings with it new events and new ideas. She is excited to return to the board as Director of Protocol.
